As you begin the journey with Farmers Capital Group, it is crucial to understand the status of Accredited investors.  

What does it mean to be an Accredited Investor? 

The SEC has two general financial criteria for defining Accredited Investor for the average American. Full link to SEC article found here: Link

  1. An individual with a net worth inclusive of all liabilities over $1 million, excluding the primary residence (individually or with spouse or partner)  
    • Required documents for verification  
      • Asset documentation and complete credit report showing net worth of at least $1 million 
      • -or- Letter from a lawyer, CPA, investment advisor accredited status 
      • -or- Send a verification request to a lawyer, CPA, or investment advisor 
  2. Income over $200,000 (individually) or $300,000 (with spouse or partner) in the prior two years and reasonably expects the same for the current year. 
    • Required documents for verification 
      • Copy of any tax form containing salary for the past two years 
      • -or- Letter from a lawyer, CPA, or investment advisor verifying income and accredited status

Why does Farmers Capital Group only accept Accredited Investors?  

  1. Accepting only accredited investors into our deals helps us steer clear of any regulatory grey area with the SEC 
  2. Ensures a smooth investing process throughout the asset lifecycle.  
  3. Ability to help more Ag professionals due to the ability to advertise deals publicly 

How much time does it take to complete? One day to five days  

How long is the verification valid? Five years  

Is there a cost? Usually, firms will charge a fee ranging from $40 to $100. At Farmers Capital, we cover this cost for you.
